The education systems in China and the United States are different in certain ways, but they also share some commons. Both American education system and Chinese education system use the standardized test as a tool to evaluate students’ performances. Before students enter college, American students need to take the SAT. Similar to that, China has the college entrance exam called Gaokao. At the same time, each system has its unique characteristics that distinguish it from one another. First, teachers play different roles in these two countries. In China, teachers have absolute authorities in the school, so they gain a great deal of respect from students and parents. Most students agree on all the information which teachers teach in classes without any doubt. Teachers are strict with students in order to ensure they have a solid academic foundation. While in the United States, teachers tend to praise students most of time and avoid diminishing their creativities. Secondly, the atmosphere in class is different. In China, teachers’ lectures occupy most of the class time. Students have relatively few discussions with teachers and their peers. However, the class in the United States is more active. Students are encouraged to express their opinions and start the conversations. In conclusion, the education system in China and the United States can be differentiated from each other by observing teaching style and class mode, but both will help students to succeed.

This picture illustrates that Chinese students are preparing an important exam called Gaokao.
